3. WHAT TO EXPECT DURING AN RV INSPECTION
Getting Ready for your RV for Inspection
Here at WatersEdgeRVServices we understand that it is your choice on who you decide to let Inspect your RV, so we want to give you a heads up on what to expect and get ready for with an RV INSPECTION.
Getting ready for your inspection…
Most Inspectors use an agreement form letting you know what the inspection will consist of, as well as many other things you may like to know. These forms will need to be signed and received by the inspector, as well as payment received, before the inspection can take place. These forms make sure that both you, and the inspector know exactly what is to be inspected, and what is NOT, and makes sure this is told to you in a manner that you can understand, so that you both are in agreement, and protected by your inspection and to make sure you get what you paid for.
SUPER IMPORTANT: It is highly recommend that you park your RV where it can have full access to the hook-up of all necessary utilities in order for your inspector to give his most qualified assessment and professional opinion. If the utility you want inspected, is not in a proper place to be utilized, the inspector may not be able to provide an accurate inspection.
Even though it is not required, it is encouraged for you to be present and to meet your inspector. If you can be available, please let the inspector know, so he can let you know what to expect after the inspection.
Before your inspector shows up, please be sure that all areas of the RV are going to be easily accessible to the inspector. If your RV is located under some type of shelter or structure, and you are wanting a full inspection of the roof, please be sure that there is enough clearance to do a reliable inspection, or if possible, take into consideration, moving the RV. Be sure all the slides and awnings can be completely extended. Most Inspectors do not like to move your personal belongings, inside the RV or Storage Bays, so please try to have those in a place, where the inspection will not be needed. For the very best inspection, all personal belongings that can be removed, should be, if at all possible, including inside a closet where appliances are, such as washer and dryer. In this way the inspector can make a proper assessment of everything and make notes on his report.
During the inspection…
Please remember to give your RV Inspector plenty of time to complete their inspection, as there are many things that have to be inspected. Inspectors like to finish their job in a timely manner, so with less interruptions, they can provide an efficient and proper inspection. If you have any questions, please be considerate, and while you're waiting, take the time to write those questions down, and ask the inspector when their job is completed.
Inspectors are supposed to be like referees, they are supposed to give an accurate and unbiased evaluation of each RV. Inspectors are not allowed to answer questions about their personal opinions on their findings during the inspection process. In this way, this allows the owner and the customer to make that decision, solely based upon the inspection findings alone, and that is what gives a professional unbiased inspection validity.
If you are a buyer and the seller is present during the inspection, it would be wise to kindly ask the seller to respect the inspector’s time and encourage them to not follow the inspector through the inspection or ask questions of the inspector until your inspector is finished. This will not only interrupt the inspector, but may also enlighten your seller on possible items found during the inspection – which you may want to bring up for yourself.
After the inspection…
Your Inspection Report will include all RV inspection findings, as well as a copy of your paid invoice, supporting photos of the evaluation, agreement copies and sometimes more. The Inspector will then, most likely, take their reports for final evaluation, and to finalize the report.
The Inspector will most likely give you an approximate date for receiving your inspection report.
Oil and Fluid Testing are a Completely Seperate Process at a Testing Lab and will probably be received at a later date, than the rest of the Inspection Report.
